Academic Excellence from a Christ Centered World View

At Hollandale Christian School, we seek to nurture our students in all the areas that God has gifted them.  This means that we offer our students a variety of extracurricular activities to support their heads, hands, and hearts as they grow.

Our students have opportunities for academically-oriented extracurricular activities throughout the school year.  Each year, the 5th-8th graders may participate in a School Geography Bee.  The 3rd-8th graders also have the opportunity to participate in a School Spelling Bee.  The winners of each school competition move on to regional competitions.  Every other year, the 5th and 6th grade class takes the rest of the students on a tour around the world through their “Festival of Nations.”  Students also participate in a school-wide Science Fair every other year.

HCS also offers athletic extracurricular activities.  The 7th and 8th grade class participates in soccer, volleyball, basketball, and softball tournaments throughout the year.  Every fall, HCS hosts a soccer tournament where we can cheer on our 7th and 8th grade team.

Music is another important extracurricular opportunity for our students.  All students participate in a Christmas program and a school-wide musical each year.  The 5th-8th graders have the opportunity to be a part of a band and to take music lessons at school.  Students also play piano, drums, and other instruments at our weekly chapels.

In addition to academic, athletic, and musical extracurricular activities, we also provide our students with opportunities to practice being servants of Christ.  Each year, our students take part in a variety of service projects.  These activities change from year to year, but they always focus on service, either nearby or far away.  In the past few years, students have picked up trash at local parks, raised money to buy books for an orphanage in Haiti, collected food for a local food bank, and sung for elderly residents of Hollandale.

At Hollandale Christian School, learning goes beyond the walls of our classrooms and even beyond the halls of our school.  We nurture our students academically, athletically, musically, and spiritually in the classroom and through extracurricular activities.
