MISSION + VALUES

MISSION
OUR MISSION AT HOLLANDALE CHRISTIAN SCHOOL IS TO PROVIDE A BIBLE-BASED,
CHRIST-CENTERED EDUCATION THAT DEVELOPS ACADEMICALLY PREPARED YOUNG PEOPLE
WHO EMBRACE CHRIST'S CALL TO TRANSFORM THE WORLD.
WHAT WE VALUE
God's Word
The Bible is used to inform all spheres of life and education and represents more than another subject area. Students are encouraged to study, memorize, and use the Bible as a tool to guide them on their journey to a life with God.
Individual Attention
Our kindergarten class is a self-contained classroom. The other grades are combination classrooms that average between 15 - 24 students. Small group instruction and one on one teaching occur frequently.
Academic Quality
HCS students are performing at an academic level that is consistently above the 85% percentile each year as measured by standardized tests given each fall to students in grades 3-8.
Teachers Who Love the Lord
Our teachers are all certified by the State of Minnesota. All have a love for their students and a desire to see them grow and learn. All HCS teachers continue to pursue activities that will increase their own learning and look for ways to bring deeper understanding to their students.
Christian Worldview
Students at HCS are taught from a perspective that is based on the word of God. Students are encouraged to build a strong foundation in Christ and see the importance of a relationship with God in all aspects of life.
Children are Gifts from God
God created the family, and children are a gift from Him. In fact, the Bible says that offspring are a reward from Him! Because of this, God cares about how children are raised and nurtured. At HCS we are honored to come alongside parents in educating their children.
Multi-Age Interaction
HCS is proud to offer education to students in grades K - 8. This affords us the opportunity for many activities that allow students of all grade levels to interact. Some of these activities include family groups, reading buddies, and games.
Success after Graduation
Students who graduate from Hollandale Christian School have done very well at both public and Christian high schools. Over 93% of HCS graduates have gone on to institutions of higher learning after high school.
Partnership
At Hollandale Christian School we feel it is important to partner with parents to instruct children in the fear and knowledge of the Lord. We encourage parents to be involved in their child's education and encourage open lines of communication between parents and teachers.

HISTORY
Hollandale Christian School was founded in 1950. It all began with two teachers, 35 students, and some parents who were committed to educating their children in a Bible-based, Christ-centered environment. One teacher taught grades 1-4 and the other taught grades 5-8. Kindergarten was added in the 1970s and for a time was taught by parent volunteers holding teaching certificates. In 1980, the school purchased its current building, which had been occupied by the Hollandale Public School until it closed due to district consolidation. The move was a huge blessing that enabled HCS to accommodate more students. Currently, there are 13 full or part-time staff members involved in the education of our kindergarten - 8th grade students. There are also a wide variety of Christian churches represented by HCS families. Students come from many surrounding communities in Mower, Freeborn, and Steele counties.
