MISSION

Our mission at Hollandale Christian School is to provide a Bible-based, Christ-centered education that develops academically prepared young people who embrace Christ's call to transform the world.

VALUES

God's Word

The Bible is used to inform all spheres of life and education and represents more than another subject area.  Students are encouraged to study, memorize, and use the Bible as a tool to guide them on their journey to a life with God.

Academic Quality

We strive to provide our students with a quality education. We monitor our progress through annual standardized testing given to our students in grades 3-8. Our education committee (comprised of staff, parents, and board members) helps ensure that we are using quality curriculum and best practices.

Christian Worldview

Students at HCS are taught from a perspective that is based on the word of God.  Students are encouraged to build a strong foundation in Christ and see the importance of a relationship with God in all aspects of life.

Individual Attention

Our kindergarten class is a self-contained classroom.  The other grades are combination classrooms that average between 15 - 24 students.  Small group instruction and one on one teaching occur frequently.

Teachers Who Love the Lord

All have a love for their students and a desire to see them grow and learn.  All HCS teachers continue to pursue activities that will increase their own learning and look for ways to bring deeper understanding to their students.

Children are Gifts from God

God created the family, and children are a gift from Him. In fact, the Bible says that offspring are a reward from Him! Because of this, God cares about how children are raised and nurtured. At HCS we are honored to come alongside parents in educating their children.

Multi-Age Interaction

HCS is proud to offer education to students in grades K - 8.  This affords us the opportunity for many activities that allow students of all grade levels to interact.  Some of these activities include family groups, reading buddies, and games.

Success after Graduation

Students who graduate from Hollandale Christian School have done very well at both public and Christian high schools.  Most HCS graduates continue on to institutions of higher learning after high school.

Partnership

At Hollandale Christian School we feel it is important to partner with parents to instruct children in the fear and knowledge of the Lord.  We encourage parents to be involved in their child's education and encourage open lines of communication.

HISTORY

In 1950, a small group of families in the Hollandale area shared a simple but powerful desire: they wanted their children to be educated in a place where Christ was at the center of everything. So they started a school.

It wasn’t elaborate. There were just two teachers and 35 students. One classroom held grades 1–4. Another held grades 5–8. But what it lacked in size, it made up for in purpose. From the very beginning, Hollandale Christian School was built on faith, sacrifice, and a deep commitment to raising up the next generation.

As the years went on, the school grew alongside the community that supported it. In the 1970s, kindergarten was added—initially taught by parent volunteers with teaching certificates, stepping in to serve wherever there was a need. It was a hands-on, all-in kind of effort that continues to define HCS today.

Then in 1980, a door opened. When the Hollandale Public School closed due to district consolidation, HCS was able to purchase the building. What was an ending for one school became a new beginning for another. The move provided space to grow and room to continue the mission that had started 30 years earlier.

Today, Hollandale Christian School serves kindergarten through 8th grade students with a dedicated team of teachers and staff. Families come from numerous Christian churches, and students travel from Mower, Freeborn, and Steele counties.

While the classrooms look different than they did in 1950, the heart behind them has not changed. HCS is still a place where faith and learning go hand in hand—where students are known, loved, and prepared to follow Christ’s call in their lives.
